IF by Rudyard Kipling

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Life is a Chess Match

I was speaking with friends the other day about a project we are working on. My friend has a fantastic vision and he knows what he wants. In the course of conversation, he admits that he feels like he’s taking on too much and is unsure of what direction to take.
After about a day of thinking about it, I’ve decided to write this blog.

Most of you are familiar with the game Chess. Basic premise is there are to armies with 16 pieces and the goal is to conquer the opponent’s king before they conquer yours. The King represents a Definite Chief Aim or your goal. The rest of the pieces represent actions to attain your goal. The catch is every action can only be taken one at a time. The person playing is the “leader.” The Leader constitutes the thoughts in which each action is taken to reach their ultimate goal.

Now, you and I sit down to play and your move is first. If you start to think about if I do this then that happens and that happens and that happens. You play the whole game in your head, mean while you haven’t moved a piece. 20 minutes goes by and you decide on a course of action. Making what you see as the logical choice. I counter your move a bit differently then you anticipate and your whole game plan is now ineffective. If you play like this the entire game,
#1 the game will take forever
#2 you are constantly second guessing yourself
#3 You the player will be put on the defensive and eventually conquered.
This is only a game. But sadly, I’ve seen people live their lives this way.

Any well-rounded player thinks three moves ahead, any more than that is pointless because you are unaware of how your opponent will act. Each move of a piece is an action taken toward your goal. You must be willing to act, and redirect your actions to continue to progress toward your goal. Remain on the offensive or in other words Be Proactive. Do not wait for your opponent to make a move that you think he might make. I knew a man who liked to create forks for his opponents. He either got what he wanted or depleted your army in the process.

The questions I heard in my mind is, what if I taking on too much and unsure of the proper action? The answer to this question in Business, Life and Chess is
Break It Down!

Break it down, reaffirm your goal, and write down 6 actions to be taken for that day that will help you further your goal. Don’t worry or wonder if it will happen. Know that you will reach your goal. Situations will arise; people will come and go as they please and things will happen to derail you from your goal. Keep on Going. Don’t worry or wait for anyone or anything. Do what YOU have to for you, whatever that may be, because at the end of the day you have to do what feels right, and stressing yourself out is not doing what’s right for you.

Know The Reasons and Just Do it.

The Greatest people throughout time have understood something that others seem unable to grasp. People like Marcus Aurelius, Napoleon Hill, and Donald Trump. That one thing is PURPOSE! One definite purpose that drives everything a person does. Napoleon Hill said, “The man who actually knows just what he wants in life has already gone a long way toward attaining it.” Write down your definite goal and keep it with you. Become the person who realizes that goal and not merely dreams of it.
Once, you know your purpose, the first thing people as is how do I get from point A to point B. JUST DO IT! Start the process of going toward your purpose, learn what you need to know and implement the knowledge immediately. You will fumble in the beginning and its alright because life is a learning process. It’s really the only way to learn. One completed task, leads to another and another, all the while keeping the purpose in mind and moving toward it.
When a person knows exactly what he wants and takes steps to actualize it, things begin to fall into place. The Law of Attraction says you become what you think about. When you are thinking about and working for that purpose, you get more of it. At the same time, the tasks of daily life may distract you. It’s ok, embrace each moment and move on continuing toward your DEFINITE PURPOSE.
Earl Nightingale proposed this one test in his audio coarse Lead the Field. Write down the 6 most important tasks in order of priority to be accomplished for that day to attain your definite purpose. Go about carrying out those tasks as best you can. Once those tasks are completed write down 6 new tasks and go about completing them. Do this habitually and you will succeed at attaining your DEFINITE PURPOSE.

Promethean Growth

The word Promethean as defined in the dictionary means BOLDLY ORIGINAL!
To grow in Business and in Life I believe you must be boldly original. What does that mean exactly? BE YOU!

In Greek Mythology Prometheus is a Titan who stole fire from the Gods and brought it down to mankind.

For your own Promethean Growth in Life and Business find that one spark! Something that will ignite inspiration to those who look to you for guidance. We all know that one little spark can become a blazing fire. The fire inside you will grow and you won't be known for this or that but for whom you've become. A fireball ready to light up each individuals torch of knowledge, so that they may do the same.

Good Luck to you all
